Guest : Chris Alden, EVP and GM of Six Apart - Professional Division
Aired : Saturday September 8th, 2007
As blogging continues its march into the business mainstream many traditional small businesses are trying to figure out the best way to incorporate it into web strategy. Should it be a part of your corporate website or should it stand alone? Another option that is increasingly being explored is whether to use a blog platform as your corporate website.
This week's guest Chris Alden of Six Apart, the maker of leading blog tools Movable Type and TypePad. Chris discusses why companies may want to use a blogging platform as their corporate website and gives a few examples for how to incorporate desired functionality into a website built on top of a blogging platform. And Chris talks about where Movable Type fits and its position with respect to open source.
Brent and Michael also catch up with Auren Hoffman, ceo and founder of TrustFuse and RapLeaf. Auren tells us how you can check your (or somebody else's) rep on the web by just going to RapLeaf and plugging in your email address. And how your company can use TrustFuse to learn how your customers/community members use the web, which can help you target your efforts to more effectively communicate with them. And Michael learns about Eric B and Rakim, and also finds out what KRS-ONE stands for.
Christopher J. Alden is EVP and GM for the Professional Division at Six Apart, Ltd., overseeing the Movable Type and TypePad product lines of professional blogging software and services.
