Even in 2007 only slightly more than half of all small business have websites. And out of those, only a quarter of those are accepting payments directly from their website. Cliff Hopkins of PayPal Merchant Services fills us in on how to get started, the costs involved, and how accepting payments can increase shopping cart conversion rates more than other forms of payment. Cliff Hopkins is the senior director of marketing for PayPal’s merchant services group, which enables thousands of online merchants worldwide to accept PayPal payments. Hopkins joined PayPal in 2005 with several years experience in online marketing.
Hopkins manages acquisition marketing and the merchant services brand strategy. In this role, Hopkins has expanded the merchant acquisition program, which has produced consecutive quarters of accelerated growth.
Prior to joining PayPal, Hopkins was an executive director with America Online where he created the renewal and payment marketing department. Previously, Hopkins served as senior project manager and team leader for MCI Communications, where he managed initiatives to improve order tracking and reporting tools. Hopkins also has held analyst and senior analyst positions with the USDA food & nutrition service and at the U.S. Department of Labor.
Hopkins holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Massachusetts.
