Participating in and Creating Online Business Networks with LinkedIn

Show:     Participating in and Creating Online Business Networks
Guest:    Keith Rabois, VP of Business Development for LinkedIn
Aired: Sunday February 18th, 2007

There are more than 9 million people using LinkedIn's service to help accelerate the process of building business relationships, but many small businesses haven't participated in this so far. Join us as LinkedIn's Keith Rabois helps us get a better grip on the benefits of participating in online business networks, and explains how these different from social networking sites like MySpace. Help also give us a few best practices for building your own online network.  Also check out Brent's take on the SoCon '07 social mashup "unconference", and the tragic case of customer relationship mis-management coming from an email meant to drum up business.

Keith Rabois is LinkedIn's VP of Business Development.  Keith is responsible for developing strategic partnerships as well as generating new revenues for our business. Earlier in his career, Keith served as Executive Vice President of PayPal, directing the company’s competitive strategy and several critical strategic initiatives. After PayPal’s sale to eBay, Keith reunited with PayPal’s CEO at Clarium Capital, incubating and evaluating multiple investments in the consumer Internet sector. Prior to his foray into Silicon Valley, Keith practiced law at Sullivan & Cromwell, clerked for the Hon. Edith H. Jones, and engaged in politics, serving as political director for former Vice President Quayle and associate counsel for a US Senate committee. Keith graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University with a B.A. in political science and received a J.D. with honors from Harvard Law School.
